Finding a technology with real industry impact isn't a matter of inspiration, it's a matter of method. We look for processes that already showed their effect in a lab or in the field, that solve a measurable problem in cost, energy, time, or waste, and that serve more than one industry at once. That filter is exactly the job of a research and development department: most companies never test a technology until a competitor has already deployed it, and the ones that keep that function build an advantage you can't buy off a catalog.
